TYROL, February 24, 2026 — The DigiDay Tyrol took place on Tuesday, 24 February 2026 at the University of Education Tyrol.
This conference is a project of the University of Teacher Education Tyrol in cooperation with the Tyrolean Education Authority, the Tyrolean Education Service, the Tyrolean Education Institute – Media Centre, the University of Innsbruck and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (eEducation Austria initiative).
At the beginning of the workshop, the speakers gave a brief introduction to the use of AI for working with texts and reading strategies: For a language-sensitive teaching approach, it is important to prepare work with texts in all subjects in a targeted manner and to analyse them linguistically prior to using it in the classroom (e.g., technical terms, educational language expressions, text structure). Afterwards, the teachers had the opportunity to try out how AI can (or cannot) support, facilitate and enrich work with texts. Finally, there was a discussion about the challenges, limitations and risks associated with AI for lesson planning and design in primary schools. The teachers found the linguistic analyses of AI (e.g., filtering out difficult words and formal language expressions) helpful for their lesson preparation. The forms of AI-generated presentation, which were not very child-friendly (e.g., pictograms instead of pictures), were criticised by the teachers and deemed unusable. The lively and constructive discussion also addressed needs (e.g., assessment of pupil performance with AI) and open questions (e.g., data protection).
